The Andersen lab uses proteomics and molecular approaches to gain mechanistic understanding of cell survival and growth, particularly in the areas of kinase signaling, ubiquitin biology, and autophagy. Responsibilities of the position include planning, organizing, and directing various aspects of lab function, as well as laboratory benchwork. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and have experience with mammalian cell culture, and molecular and biochemical assays. Organize and maintain lab databases (e.g., plasmids, cell lines).

Manage various aspects of lab maintenance, organization, and other lab administrative tasks.

Perform laboratory benchwork, including DNA cloning, PCR , immunoblotting, DNA and RNA purification, recombinant protein production and purification, and biochemical assays.

Use aseptic technique for successful experiments in mammalian cell culture, including lentiviral production and transduction (BSL2), and CRISPR gene engineering.

Make statistical calculations, analyze data, and prepare reports summarizing results.

Assist in writing and preparing figures for publications and grant applications.

Background knowledge of assigned department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department.
