The team adds value by measuring and reporting market risk as it relates to commercial trading and hedging activity as well as by performing financial analysis and reporting. The role is critical to understanding daily trading performance and ensuring the organization is deriving value from its supply and trading operations using deep financial analysis skills coupled with a strong commercial acumen. The team ensures financial results align with market conditions thereby providing independent oversight of trading performance and ensuring activities remain within defined boundaries set by the company.An opportunity for an analyst in this team is now available. Working with the trading team, you will be assigned a portfolio of supply and trading activity and will be engaged with a front office team that include traders and schedulers.As part of the team, you will expand your understanding of the oil energy markets. This will include how various oil commodities are priced and how purchase and sale transactions and related transportation costs impact the associated trade. You will also develop a deeper appreciation to how financial instruments are used to hedge and used to minimize the risks associated with the physical side of the transactions. You will gain a better understanding of the concept of price exposure and of Marked to Market (MtM) methodologies and how they apply to the oil energy markets. This role opens future opportunities to join commercial teams to supply and trade commodities in an exciting and expanding company and industry.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports and validates portfolio daily position and MTM (Marked to Market) reports. Assists with troubleshooting and analytics of the portfolio’s returns

Performs financial analysis on the trading performance profit and loss and issues reports on the portfolio position and results.

Collaborates with other team members and other stakeholders including, Accounting, Refining Operations, Schedulers and Traders to design and enhance processes and procedures to enable accurate and timely exposure information.

Validates inputs to MtM results for accuracy and consistency with policies and procedures.

Tests and validates new data sources enabling faster and more accurate compilation of position data.

Develops and maintains weekly and monthly analysis reports. These reports provide commercial leadership with the tools to enable better informed decisions and optimize commercial strategies.

Develops and automates processes performing daily tasks more efficiently.

Supports the Team on ad-hoc projects when appropriate

Coordinates with IT Services and other organizations improving systems required to gather, analyze, and report risk management activities

REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION

Minimum bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline required.

EXPERIENCE

2+ years industry experience in analysis of financial results and reporting (energy, trading, banking or capital markets).

Industry experience within a financial analysis (or risk team) of a trading group for physical crude oil, refined products or natural gas preferred.

Demonstrated understanding of market exposure and mark-to-market reporting

Innovative and comfortable with change and with challenging the status quo

Strong Computer skills, particularly Excel

Experience with Power BI and/or Tableau
