Senior Accountant Job ID #: 28782 Location: TX-HOUSTON Functional Area: Accounting Position Type: Full Time Experience Required: 5 - 7 Years Relocation Provided: No Education Required: Bachelors Degree RC/Department: 5054 -REPORTING INTERSTATE ACCTG :KMI Position Description Primary responsibility for this position is management of the relationship of the Interstate Pipeline Accounting function with Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC), Internal Audit and other departments within the Interstate Pipeline Segment group.This position may be filled as either a Senior Accountant I or Senior Accountant II to commensurate with skills, education, and experience. Essential duties and responsibilities:

Provide management of the relationship of the Interstate Pipeline Accounting function with PriceWaterhouse (PwC), Internal Audit and other departments within the Interstate Pipeline segment group.

Audit Coordinator with PwC and Internal Audit which consists of managing the responses to information provided by client requests as well as follow up requests.

Position sits between Interstate Pipeline Segment group experts and auditors so that requests are communicated properly, deadlines are reasonable and the appropriate person or group within the Interstate Pipeline Segment is involved.

Assist the Corporate Accounting Policies and Controls group as well as Internal Audit with new Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) controls or modifications to existing controls

On quarterly basis, responsible for Interstate Pipeline ASC 606 reporting requirements and support for disclosures.

Provide support for Interstate and Midstream Accounting budgets for each calendar year.

Technical accounting support as needed with various accounting issues arising within the Interstate Pipeline accounting group

Special projects support as needed

Ad hoc analysis and reporting, and other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field is required.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Accounting-related position

Experience and knowledge in SOX requirements.

Strong analytical skills and logical thought process

Ability to manage various tasks at the same time and manage time efficiently.

Ability to communicate effectively, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work an issue and identify the solution.

Organized, detail oriented, and self-motivated.

Comfortable working with all levels of management and departments throughout the organization

Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with others.

General understanding of the energy industry and familiarity with industry terminology and the commercial environment.

Strong knowledge of Lawson and Excel and ability to learn internal revenue system including reporting within the system.

Additional work hours may be required, including weekends and holidays on occasion.
