Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Cost Accountant in the civil construction industry, located in Houston, Texas. This key role involves overseeing financial data and cost tracking for ongoing projects, leaning heavily on your understanding of construction cost processes.Responsibilities: Oversee the review of contracts to ensure project billings are accurate, using the Percentage of Completion (POC) method for efficient financial control. Regularly monitor and control project costs, utilizing tools such as Sage 300 (Timberline), TimberScan My Assistant software. Perform account reconciliations with detailed attention to recorded project expenses. Conduct project reconciliations, verify the accuracy of billings to costs, and record cash applications to billings. Communicate effectively with project managers, vendors, and clients to provide regular updates regarding project accounts and financial status. Generate financial reports using Excel (including Power BI and Power Queries), and present clear and concise updates to the management team. Leverage your understanding of the complexities of construction cost processes and your accounting acumen to ensure efficient project outcomes.Requirements Proficiency in Construction Cost estimation and evaluation is crucial Demonstrable experience with percentage (%) of completion method in accounting Previous involvement in Construction Projects is highly desirable Familiarity with Project Billing procedures and standards Strong understanding of Project Cost accounting and control Experience with Contracts, specifically within the construction industry Proficiency in Sage Timberline software is required Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are essential Experience with Microsoft Power BI for data analysis and visualization is required Proficiency in Power BI for dynamic reporting and data analysis Experience with Power Query for data transformation and reshaping Knowledge of Unit Pricing within construction accounting is essential Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
