ABOUT US: The City Controller serves as the City's chief financial officer. The Office of the City Controller certifies the availability of funds prior to City Council approval of City commitments, processes and monitors disbursements exceeding one billion dollars annually, invests the City's funds, conducts internal audits of the City's departments and federal grant programs, operates and maintains its financial management system, conducts the sale of public improvement and revenue bonds and produces an Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Office of the City Controller Performance Division is seeking an Administrative Specialist to perform varied professional administrative functions in the research, development, interpretation, and implementation of Controller’s fiscal and operational policies and procedures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

Interpret and disseminate administrative policies and procedural revisions for staff implementation.

Provide guidance to department staff in various activities necessary to attain operational goals.

Responds to written and telephone inquiries, requests and complaints from the general public.

Conducts studies of department organization and operation, coordinates preparation of report on findings and offers recommendations concerning various problems.

Participates in special projects as assigned.

Conduct Performance Division administrative tasks as required.

WORKING CONDITIONSThe position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. but may periodically be subject to outdoor conditions.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Liberal Arts, or a field directly related to the type of work being performed.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Three years of administrative experience are required.Professional experience related to the type of work to be performed may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.PREFERENCESPreferences will also be given to applicants that possess:

Experience in Operations or Logistics Management

Experience in financial.

Knowledge of governmental accounting, auditing, and financial reporting.

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Governmental Auditing Standards.

Knowledge of governmental/fund accounting.

Knowledge of planning and research principles, practices, and procedures.

Ability to analyze and evaluate complex accounting and financial problems, documents, and reports.

Ability to provide administrative and professional leadership and direction to subordinate staff.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
