Software Development Engineer 4 (Back End) (Michaels Stores, Inc. – Irving, TX); Multiple positions available. Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software. Improve system quality by identifying issues, common patterns, and developing standard operating procedures. Enhance applications by identifying opportunities for improvement, make recommendations, and design and implement systems. Maintain and improve existing codebases and peer review code changes. Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Work with teams to implement technical designs. Investigate and use new technologies where relevant.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related technical field and 8 years of experience in the job offered or in software development. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related technical field and 8 years of experience as stated, will accept a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related technical field and 6 years of experience in the job offered or in software development, or alternatively, would accept a PhD degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related technical field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in software development. Must have 3 years of experience in each of the following: Working with large scale web traffic and data; Data Structures, Algorithms, and Linear Algebra; Programming in Java, Python, C, C, MongoDB, MySQL, or similar; Building Search systems including Elastic, SORL, Lucene, Algolia, or similar; Building large-scale data pipelines; Cloud services including AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, or similar; and Machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing applications. Experience may be gained concurrently.
