Software Development Engineer 3 (Back End) (Michaels Stores, Inc. – Irving, TX); Multiple positions available. Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software. Improve system quality by identifying issues, common patterns, and developing standard operating procedures. Enhance applications by identifying opportunities for improvement, making recommendations, and designing and implementing systems. Maintain and improve existing codebases and peer review code changes. Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Work with teams to implement technical designs. Investigate and use new technologies where relevant. Position based in Irving, TX. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.
Requires a PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or a related technical field. In lieu of a PhD, will accept a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in stated field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in software development or a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in stated field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or in software development. Education, training, or experience must include: Working with large scale web traffic and data with experience in Data Structures, Algorithms, and Linear Algebra; Java, Python, C, C, MongoDB, MySQL, or similar programming language; Building search systems such as Elastic, SORL, Lucene, or Algolia; Building large-scale data pipelines; Working with cloud services, such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure; and Machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing applications. Experience may be gained concurrently. Position based in Irving, TX. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.
