Meals on Wheels Central Texas is currently celebrating 51 years of delivering a nutritious meal to our homebound and elderly community in Central Austin. We are expanding our staff, and we have an immediate opening for a Universal Intake Specialist to join our team.
FLSA: Full-time, Non-exempt Hybrid eligible.
Pay rate: $17.50hr/ $17.75 bilingual.
Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm. 40 hours per week, M-F (no weekends).

JOB DESCRIPTION
Our Universal Intake Specialist makes a real difference to our neighbors. The Universal Intake Specialist’s primary responsibility is to conduct comprehensive intake assessments in Salesforce for individuals seeking services from various programs within our agency. This role is crucial in determining the suitability of clients for our programs, ensuring they receive appropriate support and resources. This role plays a vital part in connecting individuals with the services and support they need to improve their quality of life. By conducting thorough intake assessments and guiding applicants through the process, this position contributes to the agency’s mission of promoting well-being and empowerment within the community.
QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of intake, administrative or clerical experience, preferred
Excellent communication skills including oral, written and by phone
Shows proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and CRMs such as Salesforce with the willingness to learn new technological skills
Demonstrates the ability to use standard office equipment such as computers, copiers, printers, fax machines, etc.
Excellent data entry and documentation skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask when needed
Ability to be flexible and adaptable in changing environments
Strong customer service skills with the ability to work with diverse populations including older adults, individuals with disabilities, and low-income groups
Knowledgeable or willingness to learn about social service resources in the Austin area
Valid driver license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation
Bilingual (English/Spanish) desired
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct Intake Assessments by phone for applicants seeking services at MOWCTX, following established guidelines and procedures.
Assess applicants’ potential eligibility for agency programs based on predetermined criteria.
Educate applicants, caregivers and referrers about available programs, services, and resources offered by the agency.
Document and Record Keeping
Coordinate with other agency staff members, including supportive services’ staff, case managers
Continuous Improvement—stay informed about changes in program guidelines, eligibility criteria, and community resources.
Advocate for clients’ needs and rights within the agency and the broader community.
Work to ensure that clients receive equitable access to services and support systems.
