DescriptionICF is seeking a GIS Analyst intern to join our team. As a global consulting services company, we are dedicated to making big things possible for our clients by providing specialized expertise and innovative solutions to help achieve their goals.This role involves creating, updating, and maintaining spatial and design data in support of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) document preparation, and solutions related to compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. This position will provide GIS support and collaborate with subject matter experts, planners, project managers, and interact with other GIS specialists to ensure that quality and timely GIS support is provided on all projects.The typical project types may include Environmental permitting, Wind, Solar, Waters, Transportation, Mining, Historical, Archeological, and local governments. This position will perform a variety of GIS analysis, GIS data development, data management, regularly communicate project status, and complex mapping.This is a full-time, 10-week internship that is expected to begin in early June 2025. The work will be hybrid from either our Austin, TX or San Antonio, TX office. At this time, we are unable to provide relocation nor housing assistance for this position.What you will be doing:

Perform data capture, updates, and analysis within ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.

Manage and document geodatabases and keep metadata updated.

Design and develop maps as needed for both hardcopy and website use.

Employ various remote sensing data, including LiDAR products, to enhance maps, update elevations, and assign surface type classifications.

Extract and develop data from a variety of sources including engineering drawings, survey plats, tax records, and plat maps.

Basic Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a master’s degree in GIS, geography, planning or a GIS-related field with an anticipated graduation of August 2025 or later.

Preferred Qualifications:

Software experience with: ESRI (ArcGIS Pro 3.2.0, ArcGIS 10.8.2)

Experience with ESRI Extensions (Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst)

Web Mapping (ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise)

ESRI Field Maps Application

Strong ability to work independently while effectively communicating technical and business requirements to both technical and non-technical users.

Proven capability to assist with project updates, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.

Experience with GIS workflow automation using tools like Python and Safe FME is a plus.

Excellent quantitative/analytical skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions

Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office & Adobe Photoshop

Knowledge of project management principles

Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and ability to work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Excellent written and oral communications skills

Strong organizational, time-management, and detail-orientation skills

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors
