Under the direction of the Director or designee, provides leadership and technical expertise, coordinates workflow, manages staff scheduling and payroll functions, and performs training and quality activities
Ensures that testing is completed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with regulatory guidelines and organizational policies and procedures
Performs the essential functions of the Medical Technologist
The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the duties and responsibilities performed within this classification
Supervises the employees of assigned area ensuring efficiency of workflow and continuity of services
Ensures completion of employee departmental orientation, competency testing, compliance training and other mandatory instructions
Ensures efficiency and productivity by monitoring the production status and directing the workflow and people resources to meet deadlines and standards
Provides oversight and supervision of Lab Assistants, Lab Technicians, Medical Technologists and Med Tech Leads
Participates in validations, projects and monitoring key performance indicators
Provides leadership and technical expertise for the department helping to resolve issues associated with protocol, equipment, interpretation of test results and system interfaces
Performs Medical Technologist bench work as needed
