APPRENTICE QUALITY ASSURANCE INSPECTORSOUTH QUEENSFERRY, EH30 9SH£19,000 PER ANNUM  Progress Rail is looking to recruit an Apprentice Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector. The successful Apprentice will be learning and developing practical and technical skills, attending college and other nominated training courses, completing all relevant tests, exams and assignments to enable the Apprentice to implement Quality control/assurance processes, have a good understanding of industrial manufacturing processes, Quality Management Systems (QMS), acquiring inspection techniques (dimensional, visual and non-destructive testing), reading and interpretation of Engineering drawings and technical specifications.
THE ROLE:
As an Apprentice QA Inspector you will be required to:Assist in the inspection of cast components and carry out non-destructive testing, under supervision.Operate measuring devices and profile gauges, under supervision.Learn the principles of Foundry and industrial manufacturing processes and methods, including moulding, casting, machining, and welding. Become familiar with our products and their application.Read and interpret technical drawings, international standards and technical specifications.Acquire an understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and introduction to the different areas of our QMS, such as calibration, audits, problem-solving, non-conformance reports and document control.Follow all health and safety regulations, including the use of PPE and safe working practices, in a heavy industry environment.Issue inspection reports as per relevant standards and customer requirements.Attend classroom-based learning and complete coursework toward a recognised qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering).Maintain and promote a safe and tidy working environment in accordance with company and legislative requirements.Comply with the Company Code of Conduct.Attend work and college in a timely manner and to represent the business when at college, following all rules and regulations relevant to the training schedule.Take responsibility for the health and safety of yourself, colleagues and other persons who may be affected by your acts and/or omissions at work, and for the environment.
THE CANDIDATE:
