Description Robert Half is looking for an experienced, organized individual to take on the long-term contract / temporary to hire role of Staff Accountant at a growing, dynamic company in the Professional Services industry. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. You will promote the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision Requirements - Adeptness in project accounting
Knowledge of construction
Comprehensive knowledge of Engineering
Foundational knowledge in Construction engineering
Strong familiarity with Construction Accounting
Microsoft Excel experience highly preferred
Construction Industry experience
General familiarity with Accounts Receivable (AR)
Practical knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP)
Background working with costpoint
Demonstrated knowledge of Project Coordination
Knowledgeable of ERP systems
Excellent attention to detail
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
Remarkable analytical, quantitative and social skills
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
