Job Title: Maintenance Specialist

Position Summary:
Repair, install, adjust, or maintain industrial production and processing machinery.
Essential Functions/Major Duties & Responsibilities

1. Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
2. Diagnosis of mechanical and electrical problems in operation.
3. Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
4. Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
5. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand and power tools, levels, plumb bobs, measuring instruments, and straightedges.
6. Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
7. Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
8. Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
9. Maintains inventories in an organized manor.
10. Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
11. Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
12. Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
13. Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
14. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, above average temperatures, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use handle tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
