Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a part-time Transportation Planning Assistant in Providence, Rhode Island office. We're looking for individuals with transportation planning or community engagement backgrounds looking to develop public engagement and data gathering skills. We have part-time openings to support our work as-needed with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation at MBTA Commuter Rail Stations in Rhode Island. Individuals will be part of a field-work team that will count passengers, with the possibility of additional assignments, pending individual’s interest in railroad or public transit-related subjects.This position is expected to begin as soon as possible.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Documenting and observing customer behavior and patterns as they use a specific ticket vending machine (TVM).
Engaging with members of the public by asking them to fill out a TVM Survey.
Supporting the survey design team with feedback on design effectiveness.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
High School diploma
Ability to be on-site at locations throughout Providence, RI region at various times during the morning (as early as 5:30 AM), midday, and evening (as late as 11:00 PM).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience conducting public outreach, especially in an in-person setting.
Currently enrolled in a university program pursuing Bachelor's Degree or higher in Communications, Public Transportation, Planning, or a related field
Knowledge of passenger rail service in Connecticut.
Valid Driver’s License preferred.
