THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections is welcoming an intern to experience the benefits and importance of social work practices, policies, procedures, and regulations within the State Correctional Institution, Greene. Join us for this exciting internship and let us show you how we make a difference in the lives of Pennsylvanians, while also developing your understanding of the social services landscape in the Commonwealth.DESCRIPTION OF WORK

During this internship, you will shadow and assist an on-site social worker. Some of the tasks you will observe include reviewing and tracking parole and medical assisted treatment releases, assisting with re-entry for mental health or medical issues, and scheduling outside treatment for inmates being released. You will also conduct research, plan and attend meetings, help with Government Performance and Results Act assessments, and assist with other inmate requests.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time or part-time summer internship starting in May, 2024

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch (full-time) and 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM or 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday (part-time).

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Internship Requirements:You must be an undergraduate pursuing a degree in social work, human services, or a related field.

You must be enrolled in an accredited 4-year institution with at least 20 credit hours earned at the time of hire.

You must be in a good academic standing with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Additional Requirement:You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirement:You must pass a background investigation.
