DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will serve as a Lieutenant and perform administrative and supervisory work in the care, custody, control, discipline, and non-professional counseling of inmates housed at the institution. Your duties will also include supervising subordinate officers and ensuring their work is carried out in compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and regulations; conducting daily tours of the inmate housing units and addressing any concerns; ensuring that inmate transports out of or into the institution are properly processed; overseeing the search of visitors, vehicles, materials, and supplies for contraband; and submitting all necessary transport and movement records and reports.Interested in learning more? Work hours are to be determined and will include a rotating schedule.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Applicants who are new to the Commonwealth will start employment at $52,306 annually (before taxes).
This position is eligible for retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title); or
Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility. (Note: Persons seeking employment under this option will be required to successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections).
Special Requirement:
This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania noncommercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
