In this entry-level position, you will play a vital role in supporting the inspection of transportation construction projects, ensuring that all materials align with contract plans and specifications. DESCRIPTION OF WORKIn this position, you will support the inspection of construction activities related to road, bridge, and other transportation enhancement projects as designated, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and special contract provisions. Additionally, you will document both personal and contractor activities in Field Inspector's Diaries or PSA, Item Quantity Books, and sketch/Computation Books. It is essential to verify that work zone traffic control signs and devices are installed and maintained according to the Work Zone Traffic Control Plan and Publication 213. You will also be responsible for completing necessary project documentation, assisting in the analysis of contract plans and specifications, and clarifying contract requirements to contractor personnel and other inquiries. Reviewing safety practices on construction sites and advising contractor management on required corrective actions will also be part of your duties. You will perform calculations to determine quantities of completed work and materials used, assist with periodic progress payments as instructed, and help check stakeouts, elevations, grades, slopes, excavation, and material placement and compaction. Additionally, you will aid inspection personnel in conducting tests on materials intended for project incorporation, collect Materials Delivery Forms and Certifications, and participate in training to enhance your skills related to construction and material inspection. Temporary assignments within our District Units may also be required, along with independent travel to various work sites throughout the district as necessary. Interested in learning more? Full-time employment
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time Ad-hoc, upon successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
