The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated Records Specialist to join our dynamic team of professionals. In this position, you will maintain and verify inmate records at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mahanoy. DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Records Specialist 1, you will collect and cross-reference information from various sources, including state and local agencies and courts, to validate the accuracy of content while maintaining inmate records. In this position, you will review court orders and related documentation to determine the appropriate course of action as it relates to release, change in place of confinement, or commitment credit to ensure timely and appropriate presentation for parole consideration or discharge at the expiration of the maximum sentence. You will participate in interviewing, photographing, and fingerprinting inmates upon reception, release, or as needed throughout the duration of confinement. Other duties will include coordinating arrangements for the transport of inmates to demanding authorities for court appearances or at the time of release from the current sentence. You will also ensure appropriate authorization is obtained for all releases, including authorized temporary absence, and verify the identity of transporting officials prior to relinquishing custody of an inmate. Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

This position is eligible for full retirement at age 60 or 65.

Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $39,785.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of clerical or correctional custodial experience;or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
