The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution at Rockview is seeking a highly motivated, journey level automotive trades person who enjoys teaching to join our team as a Corrections Automotive Mechanic Trade Instructor. DESCRIPTION OF WORKIn this position, you will provide structured on-the-job training and shop instruction for the vocational training of inmates in the automotive mechanic trade to promote employability upon reintegration to the community. Work involves the close supervision and instruction of inmates during classroom and on-the-job training and work assignments, which are received in the form of work orders that may be accompanied by diagrams, charts, sketches, and schematics. You will be responsible for the care, custody, and control of inmates during training and work assignments.With your skills and knowledge, you will independently determine procedures, tools, equipment, and materials to be used by inmates in carrying out assignments. Your work will be performed under general supervision of a technical or administrative supervisor who will review work through conferences, reports, and inspection of completed assignments in accordance with industry and trade competency standards to help you achieve our mission and your career goals. Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
Salary: Employees new to Commonwealth employment will start at the minimum listed salary.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Four years of experience in the diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and replacement of various components and systems used in automobiles, trucks, or construction or heavy equipment;or
Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the automotive mechanic trade;or
An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the automotive mechanic trade.
Special Requirements:
All positions require an active Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning Technician Certificate issued by an approved provider.
All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Emissions Inspection certification and an active Pennsylvania Class 7 Inspection Mechanic certification for class C vehicles and any other class of vehicles used in the facility.
