Head Global Clinical Franchise RSV Older AdultLOCATIONThe role can be located in Swiftwater, PA or Lyon, France. 2-3 days of on-site presence are required.A world leader in Vaccines, Sanofi has been renewing its pipeline in the area, with the ambition to deliver €10 billion annual sales in the area by 2030, fueled by accelerated innovation. Our growth in the vaccines business will be driven by core franchises of influenza, meningitis, and pediatric vaccines, with the addition of a best-in-class RSV franchise that aims to protect infants, toddlers and older adults. The program delivered positive phase1-2 results last year and laid the foundation for clinical investigation of a combination vaccine with up to three different pathogens (for example, Respiratory Syncytial Virus, human Metapneumovirus, Parainfluenza virus) for older adults.More information on Sanofi Vaccines can be found in our Vaccines Investor Event deck (from June 2023) here (https://www.sanofi.com/en/investors/financial-results-and-events/investor-presentations/vaccines-investor-event) ; our entire portfolio can be viewed here (https://www.sanofi.com/en/our-science/our-pipeline) .ABOUT THE ROLE:The Head of Global RSV Older Adult Clinical Franchise reports to the VP of Global Clinical Development of Vaccines, oversees a team of ca. 50 colleagues.The Head Global Clinical Franchise serves as the Department’s R&D Physician interfacing directly with Franchise Program Leaders across the breadth of the portfolio throughout the Company. He/she will provide essential, knowledge- and experience-based medical and scientific guidance to accomplish product development and lifecycle management to help fulfill our R&D mission of developing innovative, first-in-class or best-in-class products, both preventative and therapeutic.  The Head Global Clinical Franchise will help in the design and development of the clinical components across the R&D portfolio and to ensure that essential later-stage imperatives are carefully considered at all junctures in product assessment and development.  He/she will also be responsible for the coordination and management of physician scientists within the Clinical Department and will serve cross-functionally in a leadership capacity by interacting directly with the leaders of key functions to ensure that key product attributes are consistently accounted for as they pertain to clinical development and overall project risk management.The incumbent will contribute to Clinical Development activities that span across all vaccine projects globally within the Franchise while coordinating and facilitating activities across Franchises and Development Segments to help shape & best ensure effective implementation of R&D strategy.  He/she will also coordinate with Senior Global CD Strategy Experts, Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Global Clinical Immunology and Global Medical Affairs and directly manage clinical development research medical/clinical staff involved in Phase I - IV trials to ensure quality preparation of associated documents for submission to the appropriate regulatory agencies.He/she also serves as a primary contact with the FDA, the medical community as well as potential funding agencies regarding medical/clinical and scientific issues. Furthermore, the position is responsible for ensuring a timely and consistent approach to the development of candidate vaccines within the franchise by ensuring disciplined and robust strategy definition across all clinical trials within the appropriate Clinical Development Plans. Additionally, the future incumbent will interact at all levels of potential product development to provide input on matters regarding pre-clinical and later-stage development of new vaccines, including the Discovery and External Licensing functions.The future job holder will also play an important ambassadorial role and will develop a network to forge key working relationships internally and externally.  This position will, at a high scientific strategic level, represent Sanofi within the medical research community through involvement in international scientific meetings and through professional publications.QUALIFICATIONS:MD. or PhD in a related fieldMinimum of 5 years relevant industry experienceIn case of MDs, completion of an approved residency training program in a related field or equivalent is preferredSanofi Inc. and its U.S. affiliates are Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action employers committed to a culturally diverse workforce.
