Carnegie Mellon University's Pre-College program is a six-week summer program for high school students to explore college life both inside and outside of the classroom. The program enrolls approximately 750 residential students and 50 commuter students. The Pre-College fields of study include Architecture, Art, AI Scholars, Computational Biology, Computer Science Scholars (CSS), Design, Drama, Music, National High School Game Academy, Summer Academy for Mathematics and Science (SAMS), Summer Session (credit-bearing courses), and Writing & Culture.The Office of Pre-College Programs is searching for an enthusiastic intern for the summer of 2024. This is an exciting opportunity if you thrive in a vibrant and challenging work environment that aspires to deliver a best-in-class experience for high school students. The Residential Life Intern will work collaboratively with CAs and RAs to create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for the Pre-College community with the support and guidance of the Assistant Director for Pre-College Student Affairs. The Pre-College Residential Life Intern will work with the Assistant Director for Pre-College Student Affairs in assisting with the supervision, administration, and promotion of a diversified residential experience within the Pre-College residence hall community.You will work as part of the Pre-College Programs team in the summer and contribute to the team success by supporting Pre-College student programming. This is a live-in position. Work hours will include evening hours and weekends, in addition to regular working hours. Position will start on May 27th, 2024 and end on August 4th, 2024.Core responsibilities will include:Support in Pre-College student programming and student residential life experience.Support in reviewing, updating, and maintaining student records and documents.Support in residential staff training.Support in residential staff needs.Support in student issues when needed.Support in emergency situations.Other duties as assigned.You should demonstrate:Strong attention to detailFlexibility in work hoursCrisis management skillsExcellent communication and leadership skillsFlexibility, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within the Student Affairs division.
