Job description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Part Time Dental Hygienist to join our dental practice (5 - 10 hours p/week). The successful candidate will play a crucial role in promoting oral health and preventing dental diseases. As a Dental Hygienist, you will work closely with dentists and other dental professionals to provide comprehensive oral care services to our patients. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting dental cleanings, educating patients on oral hygiene practices, and assisting in the overall maintenance of a clean and efficient dental environment.

Responsibilities:

Dental Cleanings and Examinations:

Perform thorough dental cleanings to remove plaque, calculus, and stains from teeth.

Conduct dental examinations to assess the overall oral health of patients.

Take dental x-rays, Intraoral photos and intraoral scan and assist in the interpretation of diagnostic images.

Oral Health Education:

Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and provide personalized recommendations for maintaining good oral health.

Demonstrate proper brushing and flossing techniques to patients of all ages.

Discuss the importance of a balanced diet and its impact on oral health.

Treatment Planning:

Assist in the development of treatment plans in collaboration with dentists based on patient assessments.

Provide input on preventive measures and interventions to promote optimal oral health.

Patient Communication and Relationship Building:

Communicate effectively with patients to address their concerns and provide information about recommended treatments.

Build rapport and trust with patients to encourage regular dental check-ups and follow-up appointments.

Documentation and Recordkeeping:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and relevant medical history.

Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards in dental recordkeeping.

Infection Control and Sterilization:

Adhere to strict infection control protocols, including the sterilization of dental instruments and the use of personal protective equipment.

Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Collaboration with Dental Team:

Work collaboratively with dentists, dental assistants, and administrative staff to provide comprehensive patient care.

Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.

Requirements:

Valid Dental Hygienist license.

Associate or Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.

CPR certification.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Attention to detail and commitment to patient care.

Knowledge of current dental hygiene practices and advancements.
