THE POSITIONUtilize your knowledge in chemistry to become a Chemistry Technician for the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP)! Our Bureau of Forensic Services serves the criminal justice community and the citizens of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by providing the highest quality scientific, technical, and investigative support to law enforcement agencies. If want to gain experience in laboratory analysis, then this is the perfect position for you!DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Chemistry Technician, you will be responsible for a variety of scientific tasks in support of laboratory analysis. Your duties will include preparing analytical reagents, standard solutions, clean glassware, and laboratory equipment for the forensic scientists' daily operations. You will also perform quality assurance tests on the solutions and reagents to ensure they are functioning properly. In this position, you will calibrate, clean, and maintain scientific instruments and equipment used for casework analysis. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Limited term full-time employment

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Please Note: This is a limited term position. Employment in this position will last until at least June 19, 2025.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $39,003 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Completion of 60 college credits including nine credits in chemistry.Other Requirements:

You must be able to perform essential job functions.Legal Requirements:

You must pass criminal history and background investigations.

This job title has been identified as performing critical duties. Prior to placement in this job title, the selected candidate regardless of their current job, must submit a Report of Medications for screening by the State Police Medical Officer.How to Apply:
