If that excites you, we'd love to chat.The External Data Manager is a key role in GSK R&D with a purpose to provide comprehensive end user support and direction for designated information products (e.g. specialist external databases covering Life Science, Chemistry/Patents, Competitor/News, eJournals, eBooks, Document Delivery, and Copyright) to optimise GSK's return on investment. This role requires an in-depth content and technical knowledge of the supported information products to ensure the products meet business requirements, to aide in vendor management and to provide the right level support in the business.The External Data Manager will liaise with various teams to ensure technical access, support, and maintenance of the products, provide content quality control, and maintain the Mobile library. Maintain detailed content and technical knowledge of the supported products and services. Manage relationship with vendors and have appropriate vendor oversight.

Portfolio Review - lead the review to ensure supported products meet the needs of the business through metrics analysis and user feedback in the business to determine ROI of products in the portfolio. Oversight of dashboard build.

In conjunction with Procurement, provide input to help to develop negotiation strategies to ensure cost-effective procurement of the required content/services.

Maintain usage metrics/value measurements for assigned content/services to demonstrate return on investment, feed into content/service reviews and support effective contract negotiations.

Lead the comms/engagement and training strategy for supported content/services to ensure optimal return on investment by GSK staff.

Liaise with internal IT groups and external vendors for content/service area to ensure the service runs smoothly.

Gain and maintain an awareness of the external published information landscape relevant to assigned content/service area.

Lead in the change management associated with upgrades to supported content and services, or for the implementation of new or alternative content and services.

Budget oversight and forecasting.Why you?Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

Bachelor's Degree in Life/Physical Science or Information Science

Pharmaceutical Experience

Information Management Experience

Published Information content knowledge/experience.

Previous experience with sophisticated data analysis; ability to draw conclusions in absence of definitive quantitative evidence.

Ability to define and articulate strategic intent, with a clear understanding of the difference between strategic and tactical issues.

Experience in navigating decisions and/or execution through multiple parties in major, m trixed organizationsPreferred Qualifications & Skills:

Post Graduate Degree in Life/Physical Science or Information Science

Demonstrates capability to proactively identify and resolves issues with minimal oversight

Interest in emerging technologies that impact published information products/services

Ability to work in an agile and flexible environment where process maybe unclear or need to be developed.
