We are a general contracting company that specializes in repair and remodeling work. This is not a full time job but affords a flexible schedule. It requires all applicants to be a licensed general contractor however you will be operating under the insurance, bond and license of Handy Home Repair and be paid as an independent contractor. You will also have L and I insurance coverage under the company.
We are well networked into the real estate industry and provide work for customers who are either getting ready to list their house or have signed a sales agreement and are under obligation to make repairs by closing. We also do general repairs for homeowners and property managers alike including bathroom remodeling and updates. Most jobs are one or two day projects although we occasionally do larger jobs that may take up to a week. We take a very team approach to our business and you will be working along side other skilled contractors and laborers.
You must have your own van or truck and will be responsible at times to pick up material as well as making dump runs. You must also have a valid drivers license and pass a background check. You will also be required to have your own tools and equipment. You may also borrow tools from the company in certain situations.
The skills you will need are fairly broad: siding, windows, doors, vinyl flooring, drywall tape and texture, and lots of problem solving. Tiling experience is a plus but not required. The truth is all of us have projects we enjoy doing because of our skills and experience and we try and match those for you.
Personality traits: I'm gonna be very clear. We are looking for people who communicate well and communicate often. Someone who answers their phone and returns text messages. Someone who is trustworthy. Someone who shows up early and is ready to work every time. Someone who has a high level of excellence. We keep it light on the job site. Sarcasm is a plus. . . I believe you're supposed to enjoy your work not just earn a paycheck.
