Experienced groundskeeper is needed to help maintain a 67-acre campus. Located in Southwest Portland, just off of Highway 26, Catlin Gabel School has a number of dedicated fields for sports and recreation, an orchard, pond, and forested pathways for learning and discovery. As a Groundskeeper, you will perform a wide variety of grounds and sports field maintenance on our landscaped campus.
Success in the position will be evaluated based on the individual’s ability to support the Facilities Department in achievement of their goals, which includes:
Performing routine grounds maintenance tasks
Assisting the Grounds team with pruning, gardening, mowing, minor repairs, integrated pest control, waste removal, reporting of conditions, and other work as required.
Operating and maintaining tools and equipment of the landscape trade, including but not limited to snow removal equipment, tractors, mowers, golf carts.
Monitoring irrigation schedules and watering requirements and assist in maintenance of irrigation systems
Clearing hard surfaces including pavement, sidewalks, and roofs in all weather and include clearing debris, snow, and ice.
Performing work as designated essential personnel for inclement weather.
Pay Range: $29-$32/hour
Qualifications:
At least three years’ experience in commercial/institutional landscaping
Knowledge to care for lawns, shrubs, and trees
Proficient in operation of all of the following equipment: tractors, cultivators, edgers, power mowers, pruners, and other equipment used in grounds maintenance
Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping
Must possess a valid Oregon Driver’s License and have safe driving record to meet school standards
