Tasting Room Host Job Description:

Laurel Ridge is one of Oregon’s oldest family-owned and operated wineries. We are looking for a friendly, welcoming, relationship-based personality to join our Hospitality Team as a Part-time server’s assistant. The primary function of this role is to assist our Tasting Room Associates in creating enriching experiences for our guests that deepen their connection with the winery through brand-building storytelling. This position plays an integral role in the flow, timeliness and high end service goal of our overall Hospitality Program.

The ideal candidate would have customer service or service experience as well as a passion for assisting guests. While preexisting knowledge is not required an eager, inspired attitude towards learning and perfecting the role is. Candidates must have a professional manner, excellent verbal and written communication skills, be a creative and strategic thinker, possess a desire to help people and provide outstanding hospitality and service to our guests.

Server’s Assistant Job Description:

The primary function of a Server’s Assistant is to be a team player and help the Tasting Room function at its optimum level. While our Tasting Room Associates are focused on the client facing aspects of the Tasting Room, our Server’s Assistants are working diligently in the background to make sure everything behind the scenes is running smoothly. This allows our Tasting Room Associates to provide world class service AND hospitality to our guests knowing the team inside has their back and is ready to help with whatever they need.

This position is ideal someone who has the following personality traits:

Detail oriented naturally takes an organized and detailed approach to completing tasks and communicating with guests and team members

Adaptable/flexible enjoys doing work that requires shifts in direction and timeline

Daily responsibilities:

Accurately perform opening and closing procedures for the Tasting Room

Continually monitor tasting areas to ensure safety, sanitation and tidiness and take action on areas that need improvement

Assist in restocking wine and handling merchandise including organizing, tagging merch, stocking, etc

Accurately pack outgoing orders and process wine club pick-ups

Use our point of sale to help associates stay up to date on tickets adding cheese boards, merchandise, etc to existing orders.

capture customer contact information

Field inbound calls and tackle each appropriately by making reservations, answering questions and relaying messages on topics out of your purview to the correct person.

Collaborate with other Team Members to identify and solve customer service issues in the tasting room

Perform daily housekeeping duties necessary such as washing/buffing stemware, sweeping, etc.

Supports the greater sales, hospitality and event arm of the winery at events and during wine heavy club periods by packing orders and participating in activities as directed.

Demonstrates consistent ownership over the flow of the day by vigilantly turning tables, knowing which guests are coming and going and being sure to have the tasting room looking cared for and organized at a glance.

Prepares and serves all food items including presenting them to guests in a professional manner

Is a positive contributor and communicator with the team - asking what can be done during less busy time periods to get caught up on tasks

Job Requirements:

Must have or be willing to get a Food Handlers card

Must be able to lift 40lbs

Must be able to and stand on your feet for long periods of time and walk at least 10,000 steps per shift

Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, push, and crouch on a daily basis

Must be able to work on weekends, evenings and holidays although not everyone will work all weekend or every evening event.

Hours:

Regular part-time, ranging from 5-20 hours per week depending on business needs + season

Compensation:

Hourly base, plus tip sharing from the associates
