Lead Baker - PM Shift

Portland Pet Food Company is now accepting applications for a PM shift lead-baker at our SE wholesale production facility in Portland, Oregon.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about making delicious, high-quality treats for dogs. We need a dedicated team-leader who is extremely reliable. We are a team-oriented business and growing rapidly.

Rate of Pay: Commensurate with Experience; Benefits for FT employees include Health/Dental and Vision Insurance, 8 Paid Holidays, Paid Time Off provided after training period, Employee Assistance Program, Employee Referral Program, and Educational Assistance Program offered.

Schedule: 40 hours weekly – with OT available, Monday - Friday; 12:30 pm - 9:00 pm with flexibility to work until 11:00pm as production needs change, Weekends Off.

Essential Job Functions

Participate in routine baking tasks with a focus on establishing standards and setting the pace for other staff as well as to evaluate the impact of the Production Managers expectations.

Provide leadership to the baking operations that achieve production goals, maintain optimal workflow, and maximize the usage of time and space.

Communicate with Production Manager all vital information regarding daily operations.

Ensure quality assurance is met in all aspects of baking operations.

Understand and cross-train on all equipment.

Assist Kitchen Production Manager with training new staff on baking procedures.

Assist Production Manager with managing, ordering, and procuring supplies for kitchen.

Follow health and safety standards set up in operations department.

Verify the accuracy of each project.

Qualifications

At least two years in production baking and 1 year leading a team, preferably in a bakery.

Experience setting production goals.

Excellent time management.

Excellent team spirit and a can do attitude.

Current food handler’s card or ability to obtain upon hire.

Passionate about dogs and their well-being.

Physical Requirements

Ability and readiness to stand for eight-hour shifts

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.

Stooping, bending at knees, bending at the waist associated with retrieving products from upper and lower shelves/tubs etc.

Being on one's feet most of the day either while at a fixed station or walking.

Associated twisting, bending, pulling as necessary to complete tasks.
