Staff Accountant needed for Metal manufacturing com(any - Portland, OR Job Description:Some accounting course work or basic experience More of an accounting position but also an HR liaison-A lot of accounting will be reconciling payroll, Journal entries for payroll, administering benefits, coverage for the front desk receptionist as needed (once a week) Assist with recruiting and help scheduling. Onboarding and hiring paperwork.-Assist with month end process-Reconcile and post benefits-Completes daily transfers from Inventory software program to financial package-Assists in making inventory adjustments, observing physical inventories and working with operations and inventory software vendor to resolve system discrepancies within the inventory system-Conducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs for accuracy and complianceOnce Trained - The difference between accounting and HR responsibilities are as follows:ACCOUNTING:-Payroll Journal Entries-Reconciliations-Reporting/Generating Reports of employees hours-Daily banking and cc reconciliations-Payment ApprovalsHR:-Liaison between managers and employees-Liaison between payroll company and managers/employees-Employee relationships-New employee onboarding/orientationsFORMAL JOB DESCRIPTION - WILL TRAIN ON EVERYTHING:The HR Staff Accountant position is responsible for applying principles of accounting and internal controls, while ensuring the integrity of the information in a timely manner for all companies and affiliated entities. Essential duties include HR and Benefits administration as well as accounting functions as assigned.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES other duties as assigned…Acts as primary contact for Human Resources, benefits and payroll related issues for all companies.Ensures Federal and State labor compliancy in all companies.JOB DUTIESPrepares and completes payroll for all entities. Prepares and enters journal Entries and reconciliationsAdministrates company benefits programs including but not limited to: Wellness Program, Health/Vision, Dental, Life & AD&D, payroll, WC policies, MERPFiles documents and maintains appropriate employee filesCompletes daily transfers from Inventory software program to financial packageServes as Front Desk Receptionist as neededAssists in making inventory adjustments, observing physical inventories and working with operations and inventory software vendor to resolve system discrepancies within the inventory systemAssists with recruitment and interview process. Tracks status of candidates and responds to follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting processPrepare, obtain, and verify new hire paperwork from new employees including I9, W-4, payroll deductions, and direct depositEnsures company employee handbook and union contracts are followed and currentConducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs for accuracy and complianceAssists in additional projects as neededTravels to vompany locations as neededWorks collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperationTakes direction and constructive criticism from managerMaintains punctual, regular and predictable attendanceDisplays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with customers and co-workers and including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressureSkills:microsoft excel, google suite, reconciliation, erp software, great plains, invoice processing, inventory tracking, data entryAdditional Skills & Qualifications:PREFERRED NOT REQUIREDAssociates/Bachelor Degree – or total sum of equivalent experienceExperience with any accounting ERP systemExperience with invoice processing and basic transactional accountingExperience with inventory tracking/physical inventory countsPrevious admin/clerical/data entry experienceREQUIRED SOFT SKILL REQUIREMENTS:Attention to detailOrganized multi-taskerGreat Communicator Integrity/Promptness/Forthrightness/Trustworthiness/Reliability/ExcellencePersonable and Professional – customer service demeanorSolutions OrientedFROM JOB DESCRIPTION:LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.COMPUTER SKILLSJob requires specialized computer skills that require mastery of applicable accounting software such as Great Plains and QuickBooks. Must be adept at using various applications such as Microsoft Office which includes database, spreadsheet, report writing, word processing, communicate by e-mail and use scheduling software. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
