Position Summary The Operator-In-Training (OIT) Coordinator II position is a newly created position that will provide the Division with an equitable and streamlined approach to recruitment, training, planning, and coordination of work within the Operations Division. This position will be instrumental in implementing the newly created Wastewater OIT Program within the Operations Division.The OIT Coordinator position will reside within the Operations Support Team (OST), reporting to the OST Program Coordinator. They will help to oversee, develop, plan, coordinate, and prioritize the OIT Program. This includes developing and updating training content, coordinating training schedules, and prioritizing work of Operators-In-Training. If so, the OIT Coordinator could be the perfect position for you at our beautiful campus in North Portland!What you’ll get to do:

Serve as the main point of contact for the newly created Operator In Training Program.

Develop, organize, coordinate, and implement all training needs for the OIT Program, including delivering presentations, tours, and mentorship for up to six staffers.

Assist in the coordination, development, and delivery of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit education and training to staff.

Participate in presenting to local educational bodies and professional organizations on milestones accomplished with the OIT program.

Assist the Operators Staff Trainer in developing, coordinating, implementing, evaluating, and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOP).

Assist in the use of internal communication software; analyze data, identify gaps, and coordinate work to resolve issues.

Assist in guiding public tours of the wastewater treatment facility.

Knowledge and experience in the operations of wastewater treatment facilities.

Ability to communicate clearly, logically, and persuasively, both verbally and in writing.

Experience creating wastewater training presentations and providing training and mentorship of staff.

Ability and experience creating and coordinating work tasks and schedules of staff.

Experience with instructing educational materials to diverse audiences.

Required Education & Experience

Four (4) years of experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities listed above, which may include a combination of education and experience.

Required Certifications/Licenses

A valid state driver’s license and an acceptable driving record (https://www.portland.gov/policies/human-resources-administrative-rules/employment/hrar-309-driving-records) at the time of hire.

Desired Certification/License

While not required, wastewater certification through Oregon DEQ is highly recommended.
