Here is what you will be doing:

The Equipment Operator will contribute to a coke-handling team by operating several pieces of equipment that will help move, stockpile, and prepare petroleum coke for distribution

Operate any one of the following on a daily basis: a CAT 980 Loader (or equivalent) and a CAT D8 (or equivalent) Dozer

Assist the operation with other tasks deemed necessary to meet customer expectations; i.e. maintenance, clean-up, safety observations and inspections

Perform thorough pre and post-trip inspections

Maintain cleanliness of equipment

Expand personal knowledge of operating equipment

Report maintenance issues to the maintenance crew

Understand our critical service requirements and see they are met

Take an active role in our safety program including attendance at all safety meetings and ensure safe behaviors

Ensure environmental compliance

Requirements of a successful Equipment Operators:

Extensive experience operating large pieces of heavy equipment

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English

Because this position operates in the Port of Corpus Christi, candidates:

Must meet standards for entering the Port, i.e. clean criminal history, ability to pass a drug screen, possess a current Driver’s License and TWIC card at the time of applying

Should understand best practices of maintaining and safely operating Heavy Equipment

Must be safety-conscious and understand safe work practices

Must be comfortable with heights including the ability to walk up and down conveyor belt lines and climb ladders

Additionally, any knowledge dealing with conveyor systems will be considered a plus, but a willingness to learn the conveyor system is necessary.

Here are some of the physical requirements for this role:

Equipment Operators are routinely required to work outdoors and as a result are exposed to the elements.

Must be physically able to handle large tools and equipment (60 lbs.)

Climb on and off the equipment

Ascend and descend ladders

Is comfortable with heights

Must be willing to work shift work, weekends, and holidays
