The mission of Project Youth+ is to increase opportunities for youth to thrive in school, careers, and life. Through partnerships with business, schools, families, community organizations, employer networks, and higher education, Project Youth+ provides a variety of outreach services, mentoring, opportunities, and resources to help youth excel in the face of adversity.
Project Youth+ Statement on Equity:
We understand to do this work well equity, diversity, and inclusion must be woven into the very fabric of our organization. Our mission is best carried out when we reflect the diversity of our students’ experiences and identities in the membership of our board and staff. Our organization is committed to providing equitable treatment, access, and opportunity. We believe in listening to a diversity of voices. We involve students in decision making because it develops student leadership and allows our program to be more responsive to their needs. As a learning organization, we will continue to provide education and training for our staff and board that challenges our understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion and increases our capacity for self-critique. We acknowledge we are accountable for addressing unconscious bias and dismantling systems of prejudice which exist within our work, our organization, and ourselves. We will review our progress regularly and take ownership of our mistakes. Project Youth+ was founded on the belief that every young person deserves the chance to fulfill their dreams; and while dreams are available to all youth and young adults equally, opportunity is not. We are committed to recognizing those disparities and working towards equitable access to supports and opportunities for students.
