DENTAL ASSISTANT
POSITION SUMMARY

A Dental Assistant’s priority is excellent patient care. This job requires an outgoing, energetic personality. You determine the patient’s overall experience in our office. Your job requires attention to detail and accuracy. You are executing the treatment plan provided by the doctor. It is crucial that you listen to the doctor’s directions, perform the procedure correctly, and efficiently, and accurately document the patient’s chart.

Duties:
The Assistant is responsible for assisting the Dentist, Dental Therapist and Hygienist in the clinical treatment of patients. The Assistant is also responsible for the cleanliness of the clinical area, sterilization of instruments and stocking all the clinical supplies. As well as regularly cleaning and maintaining the equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Cleaning and preparation of units/chairs before each patient.
Greet and seat patients
Anticipate and assist the dentist, dental therapist and hygienist needs at all times.
Charting of patient procedures to include charges (if applicable), procedure and length of time for next visit.
Dismissal of patient and explanation of procedure to parent with review of progress.
Radiographs to include: bitewings, PA’s, panoramic, cephalometric and CBCT.
Placement and removal of separators
Utilizing intraoral scanner
Intraoral and extraoral photographs
Processing of all x-rays
Deliver retainers
Give patient instruction for cooperation and motivation
Documentation of all communication and procedures in patient chart
Cleaning and replenishing of x-ray equipment
Supports and executes compliance with OSHA/HIPAA and regulatory requirements
Perform other tasks as assigned by the dentist, dental therapist or hygienist
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED
Radiology Certification (preferred)
EFDA Certification (preferred)
Sealant Certification (preferred)
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Good interpersonal skills to develop an effective relationship with patients, parents, doctors, and team members.
Typing skills for entries into patient charts.
Effective verbal skills to communicate with and educate patients and parents to oral hygiene instruction and treatment.
Must be good at multi-tasking and follow up
JOB TYPE: Full Time (Monday-Friday)
WAGE: Hourly Depends on experience
LOCATIONS: Travel between 2 offices: Bend and Redmond
