Primary Teachers Needed (Ages 3-6)
Deschutes River Montessori School, an authentic, AMS Member School (established 2009) is seeking full time and skilled early childhood Lead Teachers at the primary level (ages 3-6) for the 2024-2025 school year (M-F, 7:15-3:15) with the possibility of a July/Aug 2024 start date. We are searching for warm and loving, confident, peaceful, and talented teachers. Are you passionate about your work? Current Montessori certification and experience is preferred; we will consider qualified candidates fulfilling the role while simultaneously enrolling in an approved, online Montessori certification program (DRMS sponsorship is a possibility). Registration on the Central Background Registry is required as is completing a short series of required professional training annually.
Successful candidates will possess the ability and desire to:
work closely with fellow teachers and assistant teachers to co-supervise and co-direct students aged 3-6 years in enriching and orderly, beautifully prepared classroom environment
work in professional partnership with school directors and school teaching staff
provide skilled and dedicated classroom management and guidance and aid in the creation of a peaceful, normalized community
guide the children in their holistic growth and development
observe, record keep, plan, and implement Montessori lessons & enriching extensions across curricula
lead small and large group meetings and give individual lessons
guide the children through a full day, Montessori experience including indoor and outdoor work periods, snack and lunchtime, rest/meditation time, toileting
communicate with families and help lead parent teacher conferences three times/year
contribute to school newsletters and plan and implement parent education nights
be an active member of the whole school community, both staff and families
creatively, enthusiastically, and energetically work with other school staff on whole school projects, gatherings, and community-building events
