About the Position: Operate various types of heavy equipment, loading dump trucks, clearing brush and tree stumps. Responsibilities Operate various heavy equipment. Clear brush and tree stumps. Load dump trucks with sand, gravel, earth or refuse. Perform routine maintenance on assigned equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 6 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for this Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Engineering Equipment Operator without more than normal supervision. Must possess the ability to perform common tasks including operating various heavy equipment, performing routine maintenance on equipment and inspecting equipment for signs of wear or damage. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Related to Mobile Equipment Operation) Operation of Motor Vehicles Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Efforts: This position requires heavy physical effort in constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle different sets of controls to operate the equipment and attachments. Considerable strain is caused by the constant vibration of the equipment and the jerking and jolting from operating over rough surfaces. Because of the location of some of the controls and attachments, the operator is frequently required to work in awkward or strained positions. Working Conditions: This position is performed in all types of weather, often in an open driver's seat or platform, on hills, slopes, grades, rolling surfaces, and forests. The operator is exposed to injury due to the possibility of the equipment overturning. incumbent is subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes from the motor and exhaust. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is an Engineers and Scientists (Resources and Construction) Career Field position. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. This position may require overtime work. This position may require you to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing. This position may require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to cover work performed on weekends, holidays and/or in other situations.
