Job Description SummaryThe Consulting Engineer - Advanced Military Materials is an expert and technology leader in materials engineering with emphasis in materials development, application, manufacturing, and failure analysis. The selected candidate will be responsible for driving rigor, technical quality, and engineering excellence by engaging with cross-functional business stakeholders to constructively manage and resolve complex issues in the Advanced Military space while promoting and adhering to lean principles, particularly SQDC (Safety - Quality - Delivery - Cost).Job DescriptionResponsibilities

Collaborate with adjacent business leaders to develop and drive strategies for addressing existing and emerging materials challenges in the Advanced Military space with unwavering focus on Safety and Quality

Communicate with business leaders and key stakeholders on a frequent basis to ensure they remain apprised and updated on critical issues

Ensure that sound design practices, methods, and related tools exist and are utilized

Foster adoption of Lean culture and adherence to Lean principles, particularly SQDC

Mentor and coach technical community on trade-off studies and approaches to ensure optimal lifecycle solutions

Mentor and coach materials community on career growth and professional development, which includes active participation in pyramid health reviews and TTR

Role model and mentor others on identification, quantification, and mitigation of technical risk and how to assess against business risk

Drive engineering excellence in the organization including, but not limited to, Lean methods, documentation, TRL/MRL rigor, FMEAs, etc.

Provide technical leadership in design reviews, RCCAs, industrial committees, and design boards in a manner conducive to achieving business objectives

Steer IP generation and review

Disseminate lessons learned across Engineering organizations and other functions

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering or related discipline

Minimum 10 years relevant engineering experience

Capable of receiving a US clearance

Readily demonstrates humility and transparency while interfacing with both internal and external colleagues

Strong expertise in materials application engineering

Experience developing and introducing new material systems

Advanced degree from an accredited university or college in an Engineering or related discipline

Makes decisions and manages conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment - must be able to take ownership of issues and drive solutions

Strong ability to influence others, drive change, and align cross-functional teams to success

Demonstrated clear thinker – able to solve complex technical challenges and communicate actions/solutions in clear concise manner that drives impact

Proven ability to work efficiently without direct supervision - self-motivated with demonstrated ability to motivate others to achieve results.
