Controller

Description We are in the process of recruiting for a Controller role in Fargo, North Dakota. This position will be instrumental in supporting a small organization as they navigate the retirement of their CFO. The role will necessitate on-site work in Fargo, with the potential for remote work, particularly for candidates with Business Central and/or Jet Reports experience. Responsibilities: Oversee and manage around 22 different accounting entities, including individuals and companies Handle accounting activities related to balance sheet, investments, banking relationships, and trust accounts Focus on investment-related accounting, especially for private equity (PE) related investments Perform accounting data entry as required Conduct bank and investment account reconciliations Generate financial statements as needed Perform GRAT reconciliations Assist with system catch up as needed, particularly as the team has recently transitioned from GP Dynamics to Business Central Manage and monitor PE related investments, which have minimal activity. Skills: Proficiency in Investment Accounts, Microsoft Excel, MS Dynamics 365 Business Central, Jet Reports, Financial Statement Preparation, Balance Sheets, Account Reconciliation Experience with Report Writer or Jet Reports is beneficial Industry experience is not required, but familiarity with wealth management/financial planning for taxable family clients with an emphasis on tax & financial planning would be advantageous.Requirements Proficient in handling Investment Accounts Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel Experience with MS Dynamics 365 Business Central Familiarity with Jet Reports Skilled in Financial Statement Preparation Ability to prepare and analyze Balance Sheets Expertise in Account Reconciliation Solid understanding of financial control procedures Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Detail-oriented with the ability to work accurately and quickly Ability to work independently and as part of a team Proven leadership skills with experience in managing a team Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; a CPA or similar qualification is a plus Proven experience in a similar role, such as a financial controller, accounting supervisor, or senior accountant Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations relating to financial, tax, and operations reporting.
