Description Grant Accounting Specialist (Contract, 2-Month Assignment)Location: Greensboro, NCDuration: 2-Month ContractJob Type: Full-Time, ContractDegree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldWe are seeking an experienced Grant Accounting Specialist for a 2-month contract assignment in Greensboro. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with the accounting and reconciliation of closing out old grant awards. This role requires attention to detail, familiarity with financial systems, and strong analytical skills.Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough review of cost and revenue transactions for completed projects ready for closeout.
Review documents including Banner Finance Accounting Forms, Financial Reports, Invoices, and Monthly Fund Summary and Transaction Detail Reports from the university.
Complete an Initial Fund Reconciliation worksheet for each project.
Identify and prepare any necessary Journal Voucher (JV) entries for Management approval.
Enter Journal Voucher entries into the Finance System.
Perform the Final Fund Reconciliation to ensure that the revenue and expenses of the award funds result in a zero ($0) cash balance.
Upload all relevant financial grant documents to the department's grant files in the MS One Drive Active Grant folder.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
Prior experience in grant accounting, financial analysis, or related field preferred.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and reconciliation.
Familiarity with financial systems (experience with Finance System a plus).
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and OneDrive.
Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
