Position 65015132 is Pending OSHR ApprovalNCDOT Human Resources is seeking a highly motivated individual with a background in human resources who enjoys working with others in a team-oriented environment providing a variety of support for Ferry employees. The HR Technician I is a non-supervisory position assigned to the Ferry Unit at the Cherry Branch Ferry Operation inHAVELOCK, NC. The primary focus of this position is to provide orientation and documents, including explanation of benefits, to groups of new permanent and temporary full-time hires; process I-9 verifications, review applications to determine qualification status of applicants, transfer paperwork and enrollment information to permanent files; ensure that employees have successfully signed in to NCID, FIORI, and enrolled in benefits, as well as designated beneficiaries. Assist the entire HR unit with annual enrollment of permanent ferry personnel. This position also participates in hiring events across eastern North Carolina. The HR Tech I serves as the service awards coordinator tracking years of service and which employees are eligible to participate. The HR Tech will also generate reports in the HRIS system and act as a backup for OM and PA actions. Attention to detail is critical and the selected candidate must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals of varying skills and abilities. They must establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, administrative officials, and the general public. This position interprets and applies personnel and departmental policies to address issues regarding hiring packages and actions, as well as other HR related issues. This position reports directly to the HR Ferry Unit Manager. The HR Ferry Consultant I will coordinate workflow between Manns Harbor and Cherry Branch. This position will work primarily in Craven County, but travel is required for training, career fairs, and distributing service awards and retirement certificates. Demonstrated ability in processing, retrieving, or referencing personnel data from HRIS systems such as (SAP/Fiori).

Skill in the use of Microsoft Office using MS Word and Excel.

Experience in the application and interpretation of Human Resource policies and procedures.

Working experience verifying pre-employment documents.

Experience working with recruitment initiatives.

Experience in the use of applicant tracking systems such as NEOGOV
