Ensures the underwriting efforts enable sound, efficient and profitable decisions that support the business segment. Manages the Portfolio Management function for assigned Sub-LOB teams and directs the credit and underwriting process activities accordingly.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESFollowing is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Promote sound risk management as the first line of defense by ensuring compliance with Bank policies for credit, underwriting, operational, regulatory, tax, legal procedures and policies.

Implement and execute on strategies in support of financial performance metrics and tactical plans for the business by ensuring thorough analysis from Underwriting and diligent management of ongoing Portfolio Servicing. This includes underwriting for credit exposure to new and existing clients both lead and non-lead opportunities any modifications, amendments and refinancing of clients, risk rating integrity, annual reviews, general renewals, amendments / waivers, and ancillary line approvals, as well as financial statement spreading, compliance and regulatory review.

Develops culture for early identification of emerging credit problems and industry trends.

Manage, coach and develop the team of Portfolio Managers, Associates, and Analysts to ensure we are developing industry leading PMs. Provides guidance and support to Portfolio Managers working on highly complex transactions.

Oversee PM team and activities within tolerances established within Operational Excellence standards including portfolio administration efforts that are reflected in Credit Risk, Operational Risk, Audit and Compliance Reporting.

Maintain thorough knowledge of the various real estate markets, including access to brokers, developers, and appraisers;

Understands capital markets for real estate including debt, equity, mezzanine financing;

Understands the risk and an in-depth view of various risk elements inherent in a real estate project – environmental risk, construction risk, market risk, tenant risk and product specific risk;

Approves annual reviews, risk ratings and renewals within authority levels.

Ensure the commercial credit process operates at optimal efficiency by tracking and inspecting the process and response times and ensuring accountabilities for key underwriting and portfolio management responsibilities.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or related field, and specific knowledge/experience with supporting educational background, or equivalent education and related training.

10+ years of experience in underwriting, portfolio administration or commercial loan credit decision-making.

10+ years demonstrated financial services experience with Commercial banking/Commercial Real Estate and credit products or commercial portfolio management.

Strong managerial/leadership experience with supporting educational background.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.

Ability to handle multiple priorities under time constraints.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Accounting, Real Estate Finance or in related field

Previous Sales or sales management experience
