The Licensed Practical Nurse is a key member of the care delivery team. The Licensed Practical Nurse communicates the needs of the patient and the team; collaborates with the multidisciplinary team, takes direction from the RN and delegates appropriately to the other members of the team.The Acute Medical Unit (5800) specializes in the care of patients with a wide array of medical diagnoses and multi-system problems. LPNs working on 5800 will have the opportunity to master their skills in caring for patients with the following acute illnesses & conditions: cardiac requiring telemetry, diabetes, kidney disease, dialysis, pulmonary issues, and patients with multiple drips, drains & catheters. LPNs on 5800 will also possess strong psychosocial skills to support patients with substance abuse and/or mental illness, in addition to their medical needs.STATUS: Full Time (36 hours per week) LOCATION: Rochester General HospitalDEPARTMENT: Acute Medical (5800) SCHEDULE: Day/Evening/Night, every other Weekend/HolidayATTRIBUTESCompassionate, warm and patient focusedCritical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervisionExceptional documentation skills and professional behaviorAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentRESPONSIBILITIESPatient Care & Service. Ensure concise, pertinent and complete documentation using computerized medical record process.Preparation. Ensure clinical areas are properly supplied and exam rooms are available and stocked.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)PAY RANGE: $24.25 - $28.00The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future.
