The HIM Release of Information Specialist will be responsible for reviewing requests and authorizations to release PHI to ensure completion and accuracy as well as compliance with State and Federal guidelines prior to release. Collaborates with internal and external parties in person, verbally and in writing to meet/exceed customer needs and/or organizational requirements/goals.STATUS: Full time LOCATION: Riedman Campus DEPARTMENT: Health Information ManagementSCHEDULE: Monday - Friday DaysATTRIBUTES(5+) years of experience in Health Information Management or other Healthcare setting.Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) Preferred.Self-motivated and able to adapt to shifting priorities in support of clinical and business operations.RESPONSIBILITIES Analyzes an authorization for medical information/PHI to evaluate for HIPAA compliance prior to processing.Receives and processes requests for patient health information in accordance with company, state, and federal guidelines.Uses extensive knowledge of hospital policy and procedures, and Federal and State laws and regulations to advise and direct other departments such as Risk Management, Ambulatory offices, Compliance, Billing etc. on the process of requests for PHI. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.PAY RANGE: $17.75 - $20.25The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future.
