As an Air Import Specialist at our Italian Freight Forwarder located in Jamaica, Queens, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient handling of air import operations. You will be responsible for managing the import process from start to finish, coordinating with clients, carriers, and internal departments to ensure timely delivery of goods.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate Import Shipments: Handle all aspects of air import shipments, including booking, documentation, and customs clearance.
Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients, carriers, and overseas agents to ensure accurate and timely information exchange.
Documentation: Prepare and process all necessary import documentation, including customs clearance documents, invoices, and packing lists.
Customs Clearance: Liaise with customs brokers to ensure compliance with customs regulations and smooth clearance of shipments.
Tracking and Monitoring: Track shipments and update relevant parties on shipment status and any delays or issues that may arise.
Problem Resolution: Address any issues or discrepancies with shipments promptly and effectively, finding solutions to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to clients, addressing inquiries, providing updates, and resolving any concerns or issues.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including customs regulations, TSA requirements, and company policies and procedures.
Documentation Management: Maintain accurate and organized documentation records for all import shipments.
Requirements:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role within the freight forwarding industry, with a focus on air import operations.
Knowledge: Solid understanding of air import procedures, customs regulations, and international trade practices.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple shipments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
