PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST. If you reach out to me asking a question that I have answered below you will immediately NOT be considered for the job.
I am looking for someone who is looking to join a small team! The job is really going to be defined by YOU. We are a general contracting company that does residential construction including renovating bathrooms, kitchens, basements, etc and including repairs and alterations interior and exterior but also are involved in shop-work including fabrication and production of scenic elements for events, display fixtures for the retail industry and custom projects for any number of clients.
Most carpentry work is self-performed and kept "in-house" and much of our work is sub-contracted to a variety of other vendors that we manage directly.
If you'd like you can take a look at our website - www.lorussocontracting.com
or take a look on instagram @lorussocontracting
The role we are looking to hire is quite flexible and will simply come down to whether you are the right fit. Ideally I am looking for someone with carpentry / woodworking knowledge, experience and ability. Im looking for someone with a high attention to detail that is looking to hone in their craft. Someone with an attention to detail and a willingness to continue to learn. Ideally you will come with good experience but I am willing to train and teach the right person as we go - if you come with experience you still must be open minded because we do such a heavy variety of different types of fabrication, production and carpentry. You may be experienced in Renovation carpentry but not in the shop, thats ok.
Some of the tasks that will be included in the role are as follows;
- In the beginning serve as a helper, along side me while we are performing carpentry on residential job-sites.
- Setup, clean-up and breakdown during tasks on the job-site
- Vacuuming, cleaning and keeping materials organized on site
- Loading in material
- carpentry
- demolition
- Meeting sub-contractors on a job as a liason to our clients.
- Picking up and delivering misc items and materials to and from vendors/clients etc.
- Keeping the shop clean and tidy
- Preparing display pieces for shipment
- Assembly of display and production parts as part of a build
- Sanding of any number of items
- QC'ing items for out clients, and keeping track of inventory of consumable products in the shop
The above includes many more possible tasks and is not limited whatsoever. If you have more skills, or can learn quickly, you will be performing those skills on the job and or in the shop and be given a higher level of responsibility.
