The assistant to the shop manager is an administrative and customer service based position. This person is the primary point of contact for incoming clients, as well as a guide to clients once work on their car is underway. They will provide information to clients as to the status of their car’s repairs, liase with insurance for payments and contribute to the overall smooth operations of the shop.
Qualifications:
H.S. Graduate
English speaking, Spanish speaking a PLUS
Experience with billing, customer service, account management Ability to multitask
Level-headed, calm and works well under pressure Hard-working, responsible & will take initiative
Experience in auto body repair shops or with cars a PLUS
Days/Hours: Weekdays 8am - 5pm with one hour lunch break from 1-2pm Some weekends may be necessary
Most holidays off
Pay/Benefits: Flexible pay, commensurate with experience. The first 2-4 weeks will be a trial period at NY state minimum wage, after which desired pay will be reviewed.
Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service, including greeting customers & updating clients regarding their car’s repair progress
- Answer phones & take messages
- Open and maintain files for incoming cars, including assignation of a tag number collect paperwork for new incoming cars
- Initiate insurance claims
- Assist customers with rental vehicles as needed
- Tally costs of parts once repairs are completed
- Order car parts
- Receive & vet parts deliveries
- Issue checks to vendors & record checks issued
- Follow up with insurance regarding claims, payments, etc.
