Modern Love Brooklyn is a vegan restaurant in Williamsburg serving swanky vegan comfort food. We are hiring a pastry chef for about 30 hours a week to start. Vegan experience always a plus but not necessary. We make vegan cheesecakes, brownies, cinnamon rolls, cookies, ice creams and other seasonal baked goods. The recipes are based on the cookbooks by chef/owner Isa. Please include photos of your bakes in the email and tell us a little bit about your work with vegan baking.
As the sole baker, please be self-motivated, detail oriented and able to follow directions. You will also train other prep chefs on pastry. Salary is neg depending on experience. Health insurance via QSEHRA available after 3 months.
Requirements:
Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Morning hours are necessary (7am start time or earlier if you like) and promptness is important.
At least two years experience baking in a commercial kitchen.
Proven decorating skills - piping, icing, garnishes
Valid NYC food handlers
