Position Overview:
As a Short Order Cook, you will prepare a variety of breakfast items (egg sandwiches, french toast, etc) and lunch items (sandwiches, quesadillas, rice bowls, etc). Our shop also has a drive-thru and mobile order ahead app, so it is essential to work efficiently and accurately. We also make many items (dressings, sauces, potato chips, chicken salad, etc) in house, so prepping product is also a shared responsibility with the other cooks.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and customer specifications.
Work briskly and accurately, especially during peak hours and drive-thru rushes.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area
Adhere to all company and regulatory food safety standards
Cleaning kitchen equipment, washing dishes, etc
Assist in re-stocking the line and replenishing ingredients and supplies as needed.
Give suggestions! We encourage cooks to suggest ideas for specials, procedures that can be improved upon, etc.
Requirements:
Previous experience as a short order line cook or in a similar role, preferably in a fast-paced restaurant or cafe environment.
Proficiency in cooking breakfast and lunch items, including different style eggs, sandwiches, wraps, etc.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively, particularly during drive thru rushes.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Knowledge of food safety standards. ServSafe certification preferred, but we are willing to certify the right candidate.
Flexibility to work early mornings, afternoons, and weekends. No late nights!
