Position Summary
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for managing front-of-house operations during their shift, ensuring smooth service, supporting staff, and maintaining Mia’s Bakery’s high standards. This role is critical in driving daily performance, enforcing policies, and handling customer concerns with professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee counter, barista, and runner staff during shifts
Open or close the store according to operational procedures
Ensure high standards of customer service, cleanliness, and food handling
Address and resolve customer complaints calmly and professionally
Monitor staff performance, provide real-time coaching, and report issues to management
Ensure proper restocking and FIFO compliance for showcases
Manage cash drawers, reconcile register totals, and make deposits if assigned
Communicate clearly with kitchen and management regarding inventory, orders, and staff needs
Maintain proper break schedules and enforce time management on shift
Handle minor emergencies or staffing issues with discretion and authority
Qualifications
2+ years in food service, retail, or hospitality; 1+ year in a supervisory role preferred
Strong leadership, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills
Excellent communication and multitasking abilities
Familiarity with POS systems (Square, Micros, or similar)
Dependable, organized, and calm under pressure
Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs
Availability on weekends and holidays is required
