Job DescriptionWe have an exciting opportunity for aContracts Analystto join the Office ofResearch and Project Administration (ORPA)reporting directly to the Manager, Contracts. In this role you will independently draft, negotiate, and complete funded and non-funded collaborative research agreements. These are linked to sponsored research funding managed by G&C, minimizing risk and improving benefit for MSK and its faculty. As part of MSK's sub-recipient monitoring and risk assessment program, you will play a key role in assessing project and organization-specific risks for MSK's research collaborations, and make recommendations to management to mitigate risk and protect MSK's interests. You Will:

Independently analyze and interpret terms and conditions of routine and non-routine government, non-government and other non-industry sponsored research agreements and contracts, including those associated with the FAR, DFAR, CFR, and other Sponsor contracting regulations; negotiate appropriate and acceptable agreement terms and conditions.

Develop and deliver training, tools and resources to the MSK research community to promote contracting standard methodologies.

Collaborate with other offices within MSK (e.g., Office of General Counsel, Office of Technology Development, Clinical Research Contracting) on government, non-government and other non-industry sponsored research agreements and contracts that contain outstanding terms or require specific input to ensure a consistent approach and to protect MSK's interests.

Manage and lead all aspects of ORPA’s consulting agreement workflow, including the review of all notice of awards received in ORPA and subsequent outreach to the MSK research teams and negotiation with the consultants.

Manage and supervise the submission and acquisition of federally required Uniform Mentorship audit reports to and from all collaborating institutions; analyze Sub-recipient Risk Assessment documentation of collaborating institutions to assess risk.

Provides support to MSK research community during development and submission of responses to contract-specific Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or other contracts/agreement mechanisms.

You are:

Self-motivated and willing to take action, with a demonstrated ability to establish relationships, prioritize and multi-task on parallel projects

Able to make sense of sophisticated, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively evaluate a situation and move transactions forward

Customer-focused and interested in teamwork

Adept at planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with institutional goals

A strong communicator that can easily interact with a diverse group of individuals, including in the negotiation of agreements with external parties

You have:

2-4 years legal experience, preferably in an academic or for-profit institution with a focus on sponsored research contracting

An ability to develop and complete projects with minimal direction

Experience negotiating agreements, including sponsored research agreements

Knowledge of pre-award and/or post-award research administration preferred

Pay Range $87,300.00-$139,800.00
