I'm looking for a tutor with Illustration/animation/typography knowledge. My son attends college in NY and is currently taking three courses. One in Design - Illustration 1, Motion Graphics 1, and Typography 11.
Course Description for Illustration 1: An introduction to the visual interpretation of words using drawing, painting, collage or digital techniques for use in graphic design, publishing, and advertising. Students will be expected upon completion of this course to: Apply foundational drawing techniques in the context of illustration. Identify major contemporary illustration genres and reference current practitioners. Apply introductory conceptual and compositional strategies to the development of illustrative work. Use basic analog and digital processes common to illustration workflows.
Course Description for Motion Graphics 1: Motion Graphics can move an audience emotionally and have a significant impact on society through its effect on our senses of sight and hearing. An introduction to industry-standard software; projects include animations for websites, commercials, and cinema.
This course will allow you to work with a professional animator who will help you develop your drawing/design, conceptual and technical skills needed to create animation. We will learn the basic techniques used in traditional frame by frame animation and apply these skills to the computer using Adobe Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects. We will cover come of the fundamentals of motion graphic design (making type move for titles, credits) and combine these graphic elements into the animations. During the course of the semester, we will look at many examples of animation and motion graphics, as well as screen significant works from animation history. We will also discuss and learn about careers in the field of motion graphics and animation as well as get involved in many of the communities surrounding the art of animation and motion graphics. Students are required to share examples of animation that they have collected or have previously created themselves, and any relevant materials of potential inspiration, with the class via emails and in-class "Found It!". The course will include the creation of four short animation projects. The first being a GIF animation created in Photoshop, the second will take 2D drawing or illustration from the museum and create motion, the third a lyric video and the fourth a bumper for demo reel created in After Effects.
In the class we will using the Adobe CC suite of software (specifically After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop and Illustrator).
